How soon should I arrive for my flight?
Each airline suggests its own amount of time for check in and getting through the security checkpoint so you may want to check with your airline via the number listed on the Airlines page. A good general guideline is 1½ hours. Keep in mind that you may be denied check-in if you arrive less than 45 minutes before your flight. BACK
Animals
Do you have an area designated pet relief area?
Sacramento International Airport has two pet relief areas. The Terminal A Pet Relief Area is located immediately behind the Southwest Airlines curbside check-in area. The Terminal B Pet Relief Area is located in the breezeway just outside fo the Terminal B Information Booth.
I am having an animal shipped to me by a breeder. Where can I pick it up?
Please ask your breeder for specific details regarding the shipping of your animal including airline, flight number, if the animal is shipped as cargo and what you will need to have on hand when you retrieve your animal from the airport.
I am a member of a service animal group. Can we arrange to bring the animals to the airport for familiarization?

Does Sacramento International Airport have meeting rooms available?
Sacramento International Airport does not have meeting room space available to the public. However, Sacramento International Jet Center, our on-site fixed-base operator that provides services to our General Aviation customers does have space available. Cell Phone Lot
Does Sacramento International Airport have a Cell Phone Lot?
Yes, Sacramento International Airport has a Cell Phone Lot. Drivers can stop in the lot for up to three hours while waiting for a call from their arriving party. We do suggest waiting to depart for the terminal until after your party has collected his or her luggage. BACK
Children
My child will be flying as an unaccompanied minor. Can I go with him/her to the airline gate?
Each airline has specific protocol for unaccompanied minors. Please contact your airline directly for details.
Do you offer tours to school groups at Sacramento International Airport?
Due to staffing constraints and the amount of construction at Sacramento International Airport during the Big Build, we no longer offer school tours. If you would like to arrange for a speaker for a class, please see the Speakers Bureau page.
Do you have car seats or strollers available for rent at the airport?
Sacramento International Airport does not presently have such a rental service as a concessionaire. However, if you are renting a vehicle with one of our rental agencies, please check with them directly about the possibility of renting a car seat. BACK

Disabled Services
Parking
Persons with disabilities whose vehicles have a disabled license plate or valid DMV placard may park in the designated spaces located in economy, hourly, and daily lots. Regular parking fees apply to everyone using these spaces. For assistance regarding parking lot access, call (916) 874-0681.
Transportation
Lift-equipped transportation to the airport is available from:

- Paratransit (916) 429-2744
Local users must pre-register with this service by calling (916) 557-4685. Registration can take up to 21 days. Out-of-town visitors may also use the service if they are registered with a similar service in their home town. To make a reservation, call at least 2 days in advance.
In addition, four of the auto rental companies at the airport -- Avis, Budget, Hertz and National -- offer vehicles for persons with disabilities (such vehicles must be reserved at least 48 to 72 hours in advance).
TDD Phones
10 telecommunication devices for the deaf (TDD) are located at the airport throughout terminal lobbies and concourses.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchair assistance is available from airlines and curbside skycaps at no charge (skycaps may also assist with luggage). Those wishing to transport a battery-powered wheelchair aboard an aircraft should make arrangements with their air carrier in advance.
Note: All passengers are subject to pre-board security screening which may include a hand search or use of a hand-wand. BACK

Hotel
Does the airport have an on-site hotel?
The Host Airport Hotel closed June 2008
and was patially demolished to make way for construction of the Big Build, a new central terminal complex that will open to the public in 2012. Several local hotels offer free shuttle service to the airport. BACK

Sacramento International Airport makes translation services by telephone available in approximately 150 languages for our customers. Customers with limited English proficiency can dial 00 on any white courtesy phone to be connected with the service. I would like to film scenes for a television program or film at one of the Sacramento County Airport System Airports. What do I need to do?
The Sacramento County Airport System can assist filmmakers with location selection, contracts, and facilitation of filming at our facilities. Wireless Internet (WiFi)
Does Sacramento International Airprot have WiFi available? How much does it cost?
Sacramento International Airport has free wireless Internet (WiFi) service throughout the indoor, public areas of the airport. SMF's Wi-Fi network has 4 T1 connection, which provides users with speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps. The Wi-Fi 802.11b/g technology allows for speeds up to 54 Mbps, but throughput is governed by the speed at which the device is connected. BACK
