Arriving for Your Flight
Please take the time to check local newspapers, public service announcements, and websites to determine if new security procedures have been instituted since your last flight. Security procedures are designed to protect you, the passenger, and it is very important to follow all instructions given.

Parking and curbside access are controlled and limited. Curb access is reserved for the active loading and loading of passengers and baggage only. Vehicles may not be left unattended, park, or wait at the curb for any length of time and will be ticketed and towed if they do so.

Passengers are advised to arrive at Sacramento International two hours before scheduled departure times to account for possible delays during peak periods. In addition, individuals should contact their carrier for the current status of arriving and departing flights.

Vehicles also may be subject to search upon arriving at the airport, depending on the Homeland Security Advisory System level.

At the Airport
If you are picking up or dropping off passengers, you may stop your vehicle curbside in front of either Terminal A or B to actively load or unload. However, due to security regulations, vehicles may not wait, park, or be left unattended cubside. Per FAA regulation, vehicles that wait, park, or are left unattended for any length of time will be ticketed and towed.

Sacramento International Airport does have a free (for up to three hours) Cell Phone Lot so drivers can wait for thier party without a charge. Drivers waiting in the Cell Phone Lot are advised to remain in the lot until their party has collected all baggage and is on the lower floor of the airport terminal.

Individuals who are meeting passengers are also encouraged to park in the hourly lots to meet their party in the lower level baggage claim areas. The upper level of each terminal is exclusive to ticketed passengers. Individuals without boarding passes will be denied access to the upper levels.

When traveling alone, a solo passenger may not park a vehicle at the curbside and leave their vehicle while checking baggage either at the counter or curbside check-in. Solo passengers must park their vehicles in one of the parking lots and bring baggage to curbside check-in or the ticket counter (Smart Carts are available for a nominal fee to help manage baggage, when needed).

Checking In
The availability of curbside baggage check-in islimited and subject to rapid change. Please check with your airline to determine if they are currently offering this service.

Passengers are required to have government issued photo ID for check-inprior to departure. The government-issued photo ID will also be required at at the security checkpoint.

Give yourself enough time to check-in, in person, at the ticket counter. Automated kiosks may not be available or may be off-line. Ninety minutes of in-terminal time is currently suggested for check in and security procedures durng peak periods.

If you are using an E-ticket or ticketless travel, please confirm with your airline what you will need upon check-in. You may need to have a specific written confirmation document such as an official communication from the air carrier acknowledging your reservation.

At the Security Checkpoint
Only ticketed passengers are allowed beyond the screening checkpoint.

Both carry-on and checked baggage may be subject to limitations at any time. Weight, size, and number limitations presently exist with many airlines. When you plan your travel, try to minimize the number of pieces and size of luggage you will be carrying. Check with your airline prior to departure for more information about the airline's specific limitations and charges for exceeding limitations.

Please remove knives, scissors, and blades of any type or size from your carry-on baggage before arriving at the airport. These items may be permitted in your checked baggage. Film should not be packed with your checked baggage and should only be placed in carry-on baggage to prevent damage. Prohibited items will not be allowed in beyond the security checkpoint at the airport or on board aircraft.

If you have a medical condition that requires you to carry a needle and/or syringe on your person or in your carry on baggage you must also have the medication (e.g. insulin) that requires such injection with you. The medication must be packaged with a pharmaceutical label or professionally printed label identifying the medication.

Be Aware
Keep carry-on bags with you at all times. Never leave baggage unattended as it may be subjected to tampering and/or theft.

Never carry anything onboard the aircraft for another person, especially for someone you do not know.

Report any unattended packages or baggage anywhere in the airport or on the airplane to airport security personnel or airline personnel immediately.
